Sophia was a character performer for a couple of months, and according to her Instagram, it appears that she played Snow White and Anna. While Sophia posted photos in character, she was not breaking any of the rules by referring to the photos as photos of her. However, she did make YouTube videos that got her in trouble with the House of Mouse. Characters who do post themselves in costume while working at Disney will often tell their followers to address their character in the comments and not them. For example, someone who played Aladdin may say “Please make all comments out to Aladdin” in their post, so that they do not have friends saying “you look so good”, but rather, “Aladdin looks so good”. There’s obvious business sense behind the cyclical resurgence of the teen slasher, age-old formula cheaply reproduced by barely-paid no-names aimed at an easily devalued and underestimated younger audience.

Disney Performers Express Issues with House of Mouse

Still, the most frustrating thing about “There’s Someone Inside Your House” has to be the gulf between its characters’ stated qualities and their actual behavior. Chipper and cruel student council leader Katie (Sarah Dugdale) gets stalked and dispatched in an early kill scene set in a church, which suggests that the filmmakers are more interested in plot twists than character development. And honestly, Katie’s not much more of a character than, say, Makani, whose main appeal stems from her barely considered past. Jackson’s small town is Osborne, Kansas, where the locals enjoy the local high school’s football games with the same generic passion that they have for the town’s annual Halloween corn maze. Most of Osborne attends the game that Jackson should be playing in when he’s punished (to death) for a hazing ritual gone awry.

What’s less obvious is why in the age of low-stakes streaming, it’s taken this long for them to return from the dead once again. But after the success of 2017’s Happy Death Day and 2018’s record-breaking Halloween, we’re now in the middle of a full-blooded renaissance. Makani’s friends and other teens are convinced that all cops are racist.

Rodrigo finds a trail of pills leading to his bottle before everyone gets text messages about his addiction. As the lights go out, prompting everyone to run away, Rodrigo is pursued by the killer wearing a mask of his face, who ultimately forces him to choke on his fentanyl pills before fatally slashing his throat. With a mysterious past of her own, Makani and her friends must discover the killer’s identity before they become victims themselves. THERE’S SOMEONE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE is based on Stephanie Perkins’ New York Times best-selling novel of the same name and written for the screen by Henry Gayden (Shazam!), directed by Patrick Brice (Creep) and produced by James Wan’s Atomic Monster (The Conjuring) and Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps (Stranger Things).

Brice also wrote and directed 2015's "The Overnight, an edgy mystery-comedy with a star-studded cast, and he also helmed the 2019 comedy-horror "Corporate Animals," along with several key episodes of HBO's anthology series "Room 104." The novel is also notable for subverting certain narrative expectations throughout. That's because, as Perkins herself put it, the point of the story is not just to find out the identity of the killer but to see how Makani and her friends grapple with this terrifying threat and their own secrets.

” are words to die by, as callous footballer Jackson (Markian Tarasiuk) learns at the start of the glossy teen slasher “There’s Someone Inside Your House.” Jackson’s the first of a few disposable victims, all of whom are stalked by a killer wearing 3-D printed masks that look just like his/her latest target. That’s a good enough prompt for a horror movie, especially one concerned with adolescent stuff like drugs, daddy issues, and dating. Based on Stephanie Perkins’ 2017 novel, There’s Someone Inside Your House takes place in Sloane County, Nebraska. New student Makani Young bonds with her classmates as a killer terrorizes the community. Meanwhile, various male suspects emerge while the female protagonist hides a dark secret about her past.

Having exposed his actual secret of being a murderous psychopath, Makani then ultimately kills him, saying she doesn't need to wear a mask to show Zach who he truly was. Regrettably, this frequently gave rise to sentiments of envy and anger, particularly when it appeared that the casting team favored another performer over someone else. Thoughts such as, “How come she gets assigned more characters than I do? With so many characters and cast members playing them, Disney also has to ensure that the magic of the characters is kept alive. Because of this, there is a rule that cast members cannot outwardly talk about who they play but rather will say they are “friends” with the character. At Walt Disney World Resort, the company takes character integrity very seriously.

Screenwriter Henry Gayden, does at least start with a certain amount of spunk, targeting the odious upper echelons of high school society, killing a vile bully in an arch cold open (the victim, having been threatened with exposure, offers to pay off the killer via Venmo). The diverse, artfully disheveled outcasts then proceed to bitch about the vapidity of performative grief and suggest that maybe killing off shitheads isn’t the worst thing? But Brice’s graceless, exposition-heavy chatter soon dampens any early spirit and alleged commentary on cancel culture is drowned out by rote cliche, quarter-baked small town business intrigue and knife-edge thin characters whose fates we struggle to care about. The death scenes are eye-openingly gory yet annoyingly rushed and entirely, maddeningly suspense-free. The awkward tonal veering between comedy and horror marks the film out as less Scream and more whimper (the mask designs are also so low-rent that we can never really tell who they are supposed to represent). ‘There’s Someone Inside Your House’ is an upcoming horror movie from Netflix that promises to scare the hell out of fans with all the thrills and chills.

There were instances where these actors were temporarily sidelined from portraying mermaids until casting deemed them to appear thinner. For all of that “enlightened” window-dressing, however, we’re still left with a gory, foul-mouthed, R-rated slasher movie. There’s Someone Inside Your House feels like an updated version of past gorefests. But it’s mired in the same predictable tropes that have befouled large and small screens for decades. This pic focuses on what Hollywood perceives to be the new generation of cool-kid outcasts.

Jackson is then stabbed to death by someone wearing a mask resembling his face, and the killer then exposes the film of Caleb's assault to the entire school. Melanie continued, “Disney typically has strict height requirements for its characters, but I’ve seen these rules be ignored if hiring staff really likes someone’s look. It helped me realize that character-performer roles aren’t always earned. It was not unusual to hear reports of managers encountering photos of character actors at Ariel’s Grotto, where many performers wear mermaid tails and bikini tops, and subsequently referring them to casting due to perceived concerns about their weight.

Here’s every main performer and character in There’s Someone Inside Your House. The next day, Zach's rich father, Skipper, holds a corn maze next to the school. Darby messages Makani that Ollie has been released by his brother just as his car pulls up to the school parking lot. Makani runs inside to avoid him, and she bumps into Caleb, who is then stabbed by the killer for trying to hide his homosexuality. The killer gives Makani the knife before Ollie and Makani's friends arrive and save Caleb. In the fictional town of Osborne, Nebraska, high school football player Jackson Pace awakens from a nap to find his house covered in photographs taken on the night he beat up a gay classmate, Caleb, as part of a haze.

The film stars Sydney Park, Théodore Pellerin, Asjha Cooper, Dale Whibley, Jesse LaTourette, Diego Josef, Burkely Duffield, Sarah Dugdale, William MacDonald, Andrew Dunbar, and Markian Tarasiuk. Despite the movie's terrifying premise, the cast all seem to have formed a real bond, celebrating birthdays, going out for dinners, and just having a whole lot of fun together. See for yourself in the pictures ahead and make sure to check out There's Someone Inside Your House, which is streaming on Netflix now. The next day at school, friends Makani, Alex, Zach, Darby, and Rodrigo let Caleb sit with them at lunch after he is shunned by the rest of the school. The school's student council president, Katie, announces that there will be a memorial at a church.

During a party, Makani overhears a number of teens sharing sexual secrets—including someone admiting to posting naked pictures, another being attracted to his cousin and another stating she had a miscarraige. One of Makani’s friends is a “non-gender” individual who’s called out and embarassed in public. The fact is, these days secrets can plague your life because they’re generally just a smartphone click away.

At the church, while Katie is setting up, someone begins playing a racist and homophobic podcast that she recorded. She is confronted by the killer, who is wearing a mask of her face, and stabbed in the confessional while attempting to call 911. The next night, Zach hosts a party while his family is out of town where everyone must share their secrets. The partygoers get high, while Rodrigo takes fentanyl, which is his real secret.

He explains to Makani that he killed everyone because he wanted to expose everyone's secrets in revenge for the bullying he endured for being the rich son of Skipper, whom the town disliked for making billions by selling and buying farms. Zach then reveals he intends to frame Makani for his crimes, but Ollie distracts him, allowing Makani to stab Zach, mortally wounding him. As Zach lies wounded and helpless, Makani rebukes his motives and denounces him for blaming and killing others for what's wrong when Zach himself is the real problem.

Meanwhile, Cooper can currently be seen in the seventh season of NBC's long-running program ‘Chicago Med’. Heller is one of the new names to enter the field of acting and made her screen debut in 2019. In 2019, she starred in two TV movies – ‘SnowComing’ and ‘Sweet Mountain Christmas’ – and garnered praise. Meanwhile, her biggest TV role came in 2019 with ‘The Order’ where she played the role of Selena Durov. The actress was recently seen playing Tegan Wickham in The CW series ‘Superman & Lois’. An enigmatic killer picks off members of Osborne High's graduating class of 2021, shedding light on each victim's most sinister secret in the process. Maybe this is a product of the movie’s nature as an adaptation, but there’s never really a moment in “There’s Someone Inside Your House” that suggests its protagonists are real enough to be worth rooting for.
